How to Separate Pages in a PDF Into Individual Files

Separate every PDF page: exact steps
- Open Extract PDF Pages and choose your PDF. The input limit is 50 MB per file; device memory can impose a lower practical limit.
- For the sample, enter 1-5 in the page range. For your own document, replace 5 with its actual final page number.
- Under Output style, select Separate PDFs in a ZIP. The default One PDF keeps selected pages together.
- Select Process files, then download the ZIP. Use your file manager to extract it before attaching individual PDFs.
- Open the results and check the original page labels. The sample should produce page-1.pdf through page-5.pdf, each containing one page.

Keep a chapter or certificate together
For a chapter, use a range such as 3-7 and select One PDF. A two-page receipt should usually stay together rather than become two unrelated attachments. In this guide’s sample, 2,4 produces a two-page PDF with Receipt A first and Certificate second; the verified output is available above. The Split PDF tool also saves a page selection as one document.
Use PDF positions, not printed page numbers
Count from the first page shown in the PDF viewer. A cover or unnumbered contents page still counts. If printed page 1 is the third PDF page, enter 3 to extract it. You can enter ranges such as 2-4 or lists such as 2,4. Selection is deduplicated and put in source-page order; use Organize PDF if you need a different sequence.
If the result is not what you expected
I downloaded one PDF, not separate files.
Check Output style. Choose Separate PDFs in a ZIP, then process again.
My phone will not open the ZIP as a PDF.
A ZIP is a container. Save it to Files or your file manager and extract it, then open a PDF inside. Menu names differ by device.
The wrong page was extracted.
Use its position in the viewer, including cover pages, rather than the number printed on the page.
The file is locked or processing fails.
Use an unlocked copy you are authorized to access. Try a smaller input or a desktop browser if memory is insufficient. Keep the original.
What separation preserves, and what it does not
The tool copies existing page content instead of converting it to images. That does not promise preservation of document-level bookmarks, interactive form behavior or original digital-signature validity. Check links, forms and every page before relying on the output. Separating pages also does not remove confidential information inside a retained page.
Document contents are processed on your device. Page resources and libraries may still need network access. For a practical check, use a disposable file and the local-processing verification guide; do not test with confidential records.

Will digital signatures and bookmarks remain valid?
