The tool checks pages with PDF.js and rewrites readable documents with pdf-lib, rebuilding cross-reference data. Missing page data cannot be invented. Optional image recovery preserves rendered pages but loses selectable text, links, forms and digital signatures.

Optional image recovery preserves rendered pages but loses selectable text, links, forms and digital signatures. The operation runs on your device: HugPDF does not send the document, its contents or a password to a processing server. You can keep the source file and inspect the new copy before sharing it.
It works in modern desktop and mobile browsers. Processing time depends on the file size and your device, so keep the page open until the download is ready and review the output before relying on it.
For the best result: Review the output before sharing. Use smaller batches on phones. The preview is a guide, not a guarantee that every source detail can be recovered.

It rewrites objects that can be parsed into a new PDF with regenerated cross-reference information. It cannot reconstruct missing original bytes.
With your permission, pages that PDF.js can render are saved into a new image-based PDF if structural rewriting fails. Searchable text and interactive features are not retained.
