Choose compression for the document, not just a percentage
Use the preset compressor for scanned or image-heavy documents. Start with Balanced; if letters, stamps or numbers become unclear, try Light or keep the original. For direct DPI and JPEG-quality controls, use advanced compression. Focus lets you mark important regions, but its output also needs visual review.
Limits and what can change in the output
The input limit is 300 MB per file. This is an admission limit, not a guarantee that a phone or computer has enough memory. Process a large file on a computer, keep the tab open and retain an original copy. A target size such as 1 MB cannot be promised.
Compression rasterizes pages. Selectable text, links, form fields and digital-signature validity may be lost in the rebuilt copy. When that copy is not smaller, the tool returns the original instead. Do not use compression if preserving an original cryptographic signature is required.
Why might the file stay the same size?
A compact text PDF can grow when rebuilt as page images. In the existing published compression example, an 18,627-byte source produced a 42,618-byte candidate, so the 18,627-byte original was retained. This is one recorded example, not a predicted reduction for your file.
Check privacy and prepare the next step
Browser processing does not mean the whole website makes no network requests: libraries or other site resources can load separately. Follow the network and offline verification guide with a disposable sample. If you first need one combined document, merge the PDFs locally, then compress a separate copy only if needed.
